Alexander Chervyakov declares Belarus open for international cooperation and socially and economically significant initiatives

This was stated on August 24, 2021 by the Minister of Economy of Belarus Alexander Chervyakov, during his welcoming speech in an online format to the participants of the opening ceremony of the China-Eurasia EXPO in Urumchi (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China).

This year Belarus is an honorable guest of the exhibition. The Chairman of the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Shohrat Zakir, Secretary of the XUAR Party Committee, the first political SPSC Chen Quanguo, Deputy Minister of Commerce of the PRC Yu Jianhua, SCO Secretary General Vladimir Norov, representatives of Azerbaijan, Pakistan and other countries took part in the ceremony.

In his welcoming speech, Alexander Chervyakov noted: “China is our most important strategic partner. This year we celebrate the 5th anniversary of the establishment by the leaders of our states the highest level in the history of Belarusian-Chinese relations - a trusting all-round strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation, and next year - the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Belarusian-Chinese trade and economic cooperation is growing un progressive dynamics. China is one of the three main trade partners of Belarus. In 2020, commodity circulation with China raised to a record $ 4.6 billion and increased by 60% compared to 2011”.

«China is the most important strategic partner of Belarus. This year marks 5 years since the establishment by our leaders of the highest level of Belarus-China relations in the format of a trust-based comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation, next year – 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Belarus-China trade and economic cooperation is characterized by sustained growth and dynamics. China is among the top-three trade partners of Belarus. In 2020 the turnover with China made up the record 4.6 bln USD and increased by 60% in comparison to 2011».

Despite the pandemic, Belarusian exports of goods and services to China continue to grow steadily. Last year, the figure exceeded (it reached more than) $ 1.2 billion, and in the first half of this year it exceeded the level of the same period of 2020 by 21% and amounted to $ 624 million.

According to the Minister of Economy, today more than a hundred of Belarusian enterprises have accreditation and aim to work at the Chinese market.  Governments of both countries focus at the removal of trade barriers and restrictions. We are actively working on the creation of free trade zone in services and investment with China.

Alexander Chervyakov highlighted the role of the Great Stone Industrial Park as a center of attraction for Chinese and international investments: “About $ 700 million have already been invested in the project, 73 residents from 13 countries have been registered, in total over a billion dollars of declared investments.

The new Edict of the President of the Republic of Belarus has created the best legal regime for doing business in comparison with other economic zones of the EAEU and the EU.

The industrial park offers colossal prospects and opportunities for business development on the Belt and Road platform, grace to the multimodal railway terminal, that is being built in the park. "

There are tremendous opportunities and immense prospects for doing business in terms of «Belt and Road» initiative, taking into account the multimodal railway terminal under construction in the park».

In conclusion, the Minister of Economy invited the participants of China-Eurasia EXPO to establish and expand trade cooperation with Belarus, implement high-tech projects in such promising industries as medicine and pharmaceutics, mechanical engineering and electronics, logistics, ICT and power industry.
