Alexander Chervyakov: friendly and partnership relations with China are especially significant for our country in the current conditions

On May 25, 2022 the Minister of Economy Alexander Chervyakov took part in the sixth meeting of the Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation.

The award ceremony has been held before the start of the event for Chinese agencies and companies that, over the years of fruitful joint work, became trusted partners of our country. Certificates of honor of the Ministry of Economy were presented to the Representative Office of the State Development Bank of China in Minsk, China Merchants group, China Engineering Corporation SAMS, China National Machine-Building Corporation, CITIC Group, Joint Company for the Development of the Industrial Park, a number of park residents, and also responsible representatives for the implementation of Pool and Stadium projects under the technical and economic assistance of the Government of  China.

According to the Minister of Economy, last year, despite the pandemic, the foreign trade turnover of goods and services of Belarus and China grew and came close to $6 billion.

“Increasing sanction pressure required a prompt reorientation of trade flows to the markets friendly to Russia and China. At the same time, the share of our deliveries to China more than doubled.

This was facilitated by the joint work of sectoral departments - to increase supplies, foreign missions - to establish direct contacts between the businesses of the two countries, transport departments - to restructure supply chains.

The capabilities of Belarusian manufacturers make it possible to ship almost $2 billion worth of Belarusian-made goods to the Chinese market by the end of this year.

This requires the consolidation of the efforts of the parties to maximize the opening of the Chinese market for new Belarusian manufacturers, the creation of joint trading companies, the development of the largest electronic trading platforms in China,” said Alexander Chervyakov.

The Minister of Economy, in his speech, dwelled in detail on the additional opportunities for business to invest in the creation of new and expansion of existing industries.

“Now more than ever, it is important to increase the output of products that are in demand on the EAEU market, including within the framework of our joint projects with Chinese partners.

New prospects are also opening up for the fundamental project - the Great Stone industrial park. In particular, due to the new weighty package of incentives provided for by Decree No. 215 adopted last year.

The implementation of new projects both within the framework of credit cooperation and technical and economic assistance in ongoing, in particular, the construction of a football stadium and an international standard swimming pool.

In the face of unprecedented external pressure, we are faced with the task of multiplying the results achieved,” said Alexander Chervyakov.

The participants of the event substantively discussed promising areas of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries, as well as specific projects, the implementation of which should contribute to its further strengthening.

According to the Minister of Economy, each agreement is especially significant for our country in this difficult period and confirms the exemplary friendly and partnership relations with the "iron brother" China.

And at the end of the meeting, the Belarusian agencies and the Chinese chambers of commerce and industry for the export-import of products signed a number of documents on cooperation. Among them:
