The fourth round of negotiations between Belarus and Turkey on the Agreement on Free Trade in Services: the core understandings
From July 25 to July 27, 2022, the fourth round of negotiations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Turkey on the Free Trade in Services Agreement were held online. The work on the document has been supervised by the Ministry of Economy of Belarus and the Ministry of Trade of Turkey. Taking into account the wide range of issues covered by the international treaty being developed, more than 30 representatives of sectoral departments also took part in the negotiations from each of the States.
During the meetings, the parties discussed next chapters of the future Agreement: electronic commerce, telecommunications, financial, transport and logistics services, movement of individuals, public procurement, competition, dispute resolution, etc.
The experts from Belarus and Turkey achieved consensus on most previously unagreed issues, as well as significant progress in convergence of positions on the remaining sensitive aspects. In addition, the parties decided to start parallel work on the lists of obligations for access to the markets of specific service sectors, which should be an integral part of the international agreement.
