1941-1945 State Planning Committee during the Second World War

In 1941 State Planning Committee’s activity was temporarily stopped due to occupation of Belarus. During World War 2 considerable part of State Planning Committee’s staff went to the army, part of staff was evacuated.

On 22 May 1942 in Moscow State Planning Committee’s battle group was formed, which consisted of 5 people and which organized preliminary work on the restoration of  planning bodies as far as Belarussian territory became free from invaders.

In December 1943 after partial liberation of the republic territory, the battle group moved to Homel. In Homel analysis of national economy at free territory took place, which gave foundation for planning of national economy restoration and development in Belarus for the first postwar years.

In August 1944 BSSR and USSR State Planning Committees prepared the project of the republic national economy restoration. By the end of 1948 the plan provided to reach the pre-war level of goods, cultivated areas and good crop capacity.
